The lure of adventure travel...
freedom, simplicity and a closeness to life

I was thinking about my latest adventure, kitesurfing down the California coast, and I realized that what I get from adventure travel isn't just an adrenaline rush. I get to be at peace with life.

Life calls and if we answer the call we are led to adventurous places, whether we are traveling or not! And when I ignore the call, I find myself quietly wondering what the hell I'm doing shuffling papers, paying bills, trying to squeeze more time out of the day.

As I drove down the coast of California with my Kitesurfing gear in the back of my truck, the windows down, enjoying the salty ocean breeze, I realized that I wasn't in a hurry, I didn't care whether my bills were paid or not, I didn't even think about what projects I had to complete at the office. No, I was just grateful to have experienced life completely. My head was empty, my mind was at peace and my heart was full of gratitude.

That's why I go on adventure trips. And when I'm back in the office, sitting in front of my computer, I try to remember that feeling and it helps me smile more, laugh more and enjoy the moment, no matter what I'm doing.
